Introduction to WebQuest material

This section contains examples of WebQuests designed for LENTEC.

It also includes examples of WebQuests designed for the target group which were used as examples in the LENTEC project. Because WebQuests are designed to presented on the web it is difficult to give a paper version

Why use a Webquest structure in a digital learning environment?
It is clear that, when using a digital learning environment, PBL cases need to be structured in order to make optimal use of a web-based environment and to make sure students understand what they have to do. In LENTEC we chose a framework structure designed for the Internet by Bernie Dodge in America. WebQuest, a framework for presenting on-line activities, is one way of structuring within BLACKBOARD . The headings under which a project can be introduced are as followed:

Top | Introduction | Task | Process | Evaluation | Conclusion | Teacher Page | Credits

  • By using this WebQuest framework a uniform presentation of material can be placed in a BLACKBOARD Course. A WebQuest can be placed in such a way in BLACKBOARD that it forms a module under the headings above.
  • It can also be placed in a zip file so that students can download it.
  • More information about WebQuest can be found at http://webquest.sdsu.edu/webquest.html

Tips
  • Be consistent in the presentation of your material, not only in BLACKBOARD but also in the structure of assignments. Then students will know what to expect.
  • Always check that your instructions are clear by asking a third party to read them.
  • Use simple language. The instructions (especially if in English) should not be more difficult than the exercise.
